The World Championship Snowmobile Hill Climb

The Legacy

A Tradition Born in the Tetons

What began as a friendly contest between local riders in 1975 has grown into one of the most iconic snowmobile competitions in the world.

Each March, the Jackson Hole Snow Devils transform Snow King Mountain into an arena of speed, grit, and community spirit. Over 300 racers from across the U.S. and Canada test their skill against a mountain that refuses to yield — cheered on by more than 10,000 spectators who fill the slopes and streets of Jackson Hole.

Unlike corporate-run races, the Hill Climb is powered by volunteers. For nearly fifty years, proceeds have funded scholarships, avalanche training, and local nonprofits — proof that horsepower and heart can go hand in hand.

From Thursday qualifiers to Sunday’s King of Kings Finals, the event unfolds in nonstop waves of adrenaline, camaraderie, and celebration of pure mountain horsepower.

Where Legends Are Made

Snow King Mountain

A Proud Partner of the World Championship Snowmobile Hillclimb

The Hill Climb takes place on the Exhibition Run — a slope so steep it’s visible from nearly every corner of town. Racers blast off from the base, rocketing toward the summit as engines scream and snow dust hangs in the air.

The climb is a staggering 1,574 vertical feet with a 45-degree incline through the notorious Rock Garden, a section where gravity wins more often than the riders do. Only about 60% of competitors reach the top — and those who do earn instant legend status.

Who Enters the Hill Climb?

Competition Divisions
