About The Scholarship

The Jackson Hole Snow Devils are proud to offer the Bill Townsend Memorial Scholarship to:

  • Graduating high school seniors
  • Students currently enrolled full-time (minimum 12 semester credits) in college, technical, or vocational programs — either in person or online

Scholarships will be awarded regardless of other grants or scholarships received.

This scholarship honors the legacy of Bill Townsend and reflects the Snow Devils’ long-standing commitment to education and youth development within our snowmobiling community.

Getting Started

Eligibility Requirements

Must Be an Active JH Snow Devils Member

The applicant or their immediate family must be an active, paying member of the Jackson Hole Snow Devils

Application Requirements Met

A completed application form must be submitted and meet the following requirements:

  • Essay must be typed
  • Double-spaced
  • Submitted in a Word or Google Docs only
  • Do NOT include your name within the essay
  • Essay must follow the topic exactly
  • AI-generated essays are strictly prohibited and will be checked using AI detection software

Cover Letter & Formatting Rules Met

A cover letter must be included and the essay must be submitted following all formatting rules

March 15th Deadline Met

All materials must be received by March 15, 2026

  • Scholarship must be used within one year of award.
  • Checks will be written directly to the college — never to the student.
  • Student ID number, college name, and mailing address must be provided by:
    • August 1 of the current year
    • OR within 30 days of enrollment

2026 Essay Topic

How do you, as a young snowmobiler, perceive how to get the business of the organization (your local club) done on a monthly/timely basis and not make the meeting boring, as is often a sentiment expressed?

All essays will be judged on:

  • Depth of content
  • Clarity
  • Organization
  • Persuasiveness

The Business Aspects

  • Finances
  • Records and meeting minutes
  • Trail projects
  • Fundraising
  • Club decisions and operations

The Social Aspects

  • Encouraging meeting attendance
  • Creating an enjoyable meeting environment
  • Growing membership
  • Representation at State Association, ACSA, or ISC events
